MarHow different is studying in Lithuania from the Moroccan system? The biggest change most students notice is not the subject matter — it is how you are graded. Understanding that early makes the first semester considerably easier.
How Assessment Differs
The Moroccan model
- A single final exam usually carries the whole mark.
- There is little or no continuous assessment, group work or participation component.
- That one exam decides whether you pass.
The Lithuanian model
Lithuanian universities spread the grade across several components:
- Group work
- Individual assignments
- Class participation
- A mid-term exam partway through the course
- A final exam at the end of the term
Each component is scored, then weighted according to the institution’s rules to produce your final average for the course.
What This Means in Practice
You cannot revise only at the end
Because marks accumulate through the semester, consistent work matters more than an intense final revision period.
Group work is a real part of the grade
Time management becomes important: collective projects and individual assignments run in parallel, and participation in class counts towards the mark.
There are two exams, not one
Plan revision around the mid-term as well as the final exam.
